About The Drive-in

CB Grand Opening May-1950 YL copyThe Centerbrook Drive-in first opened on Tuesday May 2nd, 1950, as noted in the ad to the left (ALSO: note the original wooden screen, which was blown down by a tornado in the 1960’s).  Centerbrook gets it’s name from the two nearby towns of Centerton and Brooklyn (“Center”-ton combined with “Brook”-lyn).

Situated right along State Road 67 in a scenic, mostly remote location in between Mooresville and Martinsville, Centerbrook has been in continuous operation every year since 1950.  We are lucky to be one of 300+ drive-ins still operating in the U.S., and one of the 4 remaining drive-ins that remain in the Indianapolis area (see a recent online article here).  We are the last surviving drive-in out of 4 known drive-ins in Morgan County, including the “Templeton Wheel-in Outdoor Theatre,” which was located on 67 just 3 miles north of Centerbrook (see the ads along the bottom of this page), and we are the oldest drive-in theater in the Indianapolis metro-area.

Current owner Tyler Tharpe started working at Centerbrook in 2001, and purchased it from Bob and Stacia Zloty in 2008.  He, his family, and hard working staff are proud to carry on this long standing tradition of  bringing you the best movies and food possible… outside under the stars.  We hope you will visit us soon!
